Gabbi Riggi hosts this week’s special Q30 Sports report.

Both Quinnipiac basketball teams came up short in their respective MAAC Tournaments. The men’s basketball team were defeated by Manhattan in the semifinals while the women made it all the way to the championship game, but came up just short against the Red Foxes of Marist.

This week, it was revealed that the men’s basketball team will travel to New Haven, Conn. on Wednesday night and take on Yale University in first round of the CollegeInsider.Com (CIT) Tournament. The game is slated to start at 7 p.m.

The women accepted an invitation to participate in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT). The Bobcats will battle the Wildcats of Villanova University on Wednesday night, also tipping off at 7 p.m.

The men’s ice hockey team took out the Yale Bulldogs in two consecutive games to advance to the ECAC semifinals in Lake Placid, N.Y. The Bobcats will play Colgate and the other semifinal match-up features Cornell against top-seeded Union.

And the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team was not able to make the NCAA Tournament, but the pairings are set for the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four. Minnesota faces off against Wisconsin and the only ECAC team, Clarkson will play Mercyhurst.
