The season officially came to an end for the Quinnipiac men’s basketball team on Wednesday night as they fell to Yale University 69-68 in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com postseason tournament.

Both the Bobcats and the Bulldogs shot well early on, keeping the game close in the first half. The game would be tied at 32 during halftime.

The main story of the game was that there were 11 lead changes and 12 points during the game in which both Quinnipiac and Yale were tied.

Evan Conti lead all Bobcats with 17 points while Ousmane Drame put in a good performance with a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds. Shaq Shannon earned 12 points in his final game while Ike Azotam struggled with only eight points in his last game in a Quinnipiac uniform.

Quinnipiac freshman Kasim Chandler sunk one-of-two free throws to give the Bobcats a 68-66 lead with just seven seconds remaining on the clock. But Yale would pull off the huge win as Justin Sears hit the game-winning three pointer with just seven-tenths of a second left. Quinnipiac’s final long pass was stolen and Yale would hold on for the victory to move on to the second round of the CIT.

With the loss, Quinnipiac will have to wait for next season to earn their first playoff victory outside of their conference tournament. Head coach Tom Moore was very frustrated that his team was unable to get the job done once again.
