Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson set to resign next month

Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson set to resign next month

Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson is resigning and will now become the Undersecretary for Intergovernmental Policy. Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy appointed Jackson into office on Tuesday.

Jackson, 43, has gained a lot of national recognition for his role as Chairman of the Governor’s Sandy Hook Advisory Commission where he spent the last two years trying to come up with ways  to prevent mass shootings. He has also received a lot of attention within the Quinnipiac University community in the recent debate over student housing.

Jackson’s expected salary at his new position will be $151,000 per year.

According to Fox CT, Jackson will be resigning from his current position as mayor on April 16 and on the following day he will start his new position at the state level.

Currently he is in his third term as mayor of Hamden and has no plans of rerunning for office.
