The 69th Annual Tony Awards were held Sunday night at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The Tonys had a variety of performances from the Broadway nominees throughout the night.

Broadway royalty Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming co-hosted the awards show. They had numerous costume changes throughout the show including Chenoweth dressed as E.T. They also poked fun at those who were not nominated in the opening number.

The first musical number was from the cast of Something Rotten! who kicked off the night with a big musical number in classic Broadway fashion.

The award show featured performers ranging from first time nominees to Broadway veterans. Performances included 11-year-old nominee Sydney Lucas who sang “Ring of Keys” from Fun Home and 82-year-old nominee Chita Rivera who sang “Love and Love Alone” and “I Would Never Leave You” from The Visit. Co-host Chenoweth even performed in a number with the cast of On the Twentieth Century. She was up as a nominee as best leading actress in the musical.

This Broadway season was also full of dance heavy productions. The award show featured big dance performances from nominated shows An American in Paris and On The Town. Annaleigh Ashford won the Tony for best-featured actress in a play for her role as ballet dance obsessed Essie in You Can’t Take It With You

Josh Groban sang “You’ll Never Walk Alone” during the Memoriam segment. He paid tribute to the stars who were lost this year such as Joan Rivers and Robin Williams. Groban was joined by more than a hundred voices during the performance.

Tony history was made when Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron became the first female writing team to win a Tony for Musical Score. Winners also included Kelli O’Hare who finally broke her losing streak when she won best leading actress in a musical in The King and I.

The big winners of the night were Fun Home for best musical and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time for best play. The Jersey Boys closed the show with a performance of “Oh What a Night” to honor the show’s 10 years on Broadway.
