Baker Dunleavy makes head coaching debut Saturday afternoon

By: Sierra Goodwill

Baker Dunleavy paced the sideline of Lender Court for the first time on Saturday afternoon in his head coaching debut.

“Every day leading up to this moment you definitely think about how you can be best prepared,” Dunleavy said. “Just listening to those who have gone through it and being like ‘Alright, it’s game day. The work is done.'”

But after the game, the work starts back up again. For Dunleavy, a big part of that is assessing his own performance.

“I’m going to watch the film and I’m going to say ‘Why did I decide to do that?’ or ‘How did I put that guy in that situation and manage the rotation?’ But, there’s going to be some things that I see that players did well and we are going to take advantage of that moving forward,” the head coach said.

Leading up to game day Dunleavy received so many messages from family and friends wishing him good luck, but the ones that stood out the most were from his fellow Bobcats.
