Halsey surprised her fans with some huge news on Wednesday in a series of photos on Instagram: She is having a baby!

The “Without Me” singer posed in a cropped rainbow halter top, showing her baby bump in front of a white backdrop. Fans also noticed she tagged the father, a screenwriter named Alev Aydin, who was kept private up until her announcement.

Aydin reposted the picture on his Instagram story with two red heart emojis and commented on the photo: “Heart so full, I love you, sweetness.” To which she responded, “I love you!!!!!! And I love this mini human already.”

Halsey also tweeted a simple and meaningful message about the baby saying, “My Rainbow 🌈.”

This news came as an emotional and blissful surprise for both Halsey and her fans after releasing the song “More” last January from the platinum-certified album “Manic”. The song was an ode to the baby she longs for after having multiple miscarriages due to struggling with endometriosis, which she had surgery for in 2017. One of those miscarriages happened right before her performance at VEVO Lift Live not knowing she was expecting.

The more and more it looked like it wouldn’t be possible to have a child herself, the more and more she wanted to have a kid.

After going through trials and lifestyle changes to help improve the infertility issues, even thinking about freezing her eggs, doctors told her in 2019 that she wouldn’t need to do that. Halsey told Rolling Stone, “I was like, ‘Wait, what did you just say? Did you just say I can have kids?’ It was like the reverse of finding out you have a terminal illness. I called my mom, crying.”

At the end of “More,” the song sounds as if the baby was listening to her sing from inside of her, showing that the baby will know just how much she has longed for this moment and how much she loves them.
