As 2021 ends, the excitement begins for what is to come in the new year. Netflix has put out so many great series in 2021, so let’s see what’s coming in 2022!

That 90s Show

First, That 90s Show — a spinoff of That 70s Show — will come to Netflix sometime in January. The synopsis from Netflix is as follows:

Hello, Wisconsin! It’s 1995, and Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and  Donna, is visiting her grandparents for the summer, where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. Sex, drugs, and rock n roll never die; it just changes clothes.

The spinoff is promising audiences all of the 90’s nostalgia, with all of the laughs audiences loved from the original show. While it doesn’t seem the original cast will be heavily involved all the way through, we know at least Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp will be reprising their roles as Red and Kitty.

A Chorus Line!

Director Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) is back with a new series, A Chorus Line!

First hitting Broadway in 1975, A Chorus Line ran for over 6000 performances. It was a hit with audiences and critics with 12 Tony Award nominations (nine wins) and the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

While the show has already been adapted into a movie once (and bombed in the box-office), Murphy seems confident in his ability to pull it together into an exciting ten-part series.

Freeridge

A spinoff of the popular Netflix series On My Block, Freeridge is kicking off its first season in 2022. The show is centered around a new crew of friends living in Freeridge, who unleashed a deadly curse, kicking off an incredible adventure.

Freeridge will contain the same adventure feel as On My Block. The show is produced by the same creators as its predecessor and takes place in the same town but features an entirely new cast. The two shows are connected, but it is not confirmed how. Audiences can expect Freeridge in mid to late 2022.

Fakes

Keeping with Netflix’s love for high school drama, Fakes follows two high school best friends who accidentally create a fake ID enterprise in their high school.

The show is a sitcom starring Riverdale actress Emilija Baranac, The 100 actor Richard Harmon, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow actress Jennifer Tong. Audiences can also expect this show in late 2022.

Hype House

After much controversy, a reality show following members of TikTok influencer house, the “Hype House,” is being released on January 7th.

This Netflix original series will feature social media stars like Lil Huddy, Nikita Dragun, Thomas Petrous, Alex Warren, and many more. The show will follow their group antics and give audiences an inside look at what it is like to be a celebrity at such a young age.
