Quinnipiac University’s COVID-19 testing requirements for on campus summer sessions are changing as more students are getting vaccinated. An email sent out to students on Tuesday, May 4 stated fully vaccinated students will not have to take part in pre-arrival and on-campus tests.

Before returning to campus, students must submit their vaccination information to Student Health Services (SHS) to opt out of the pre-arrival COVID-19 test and weekly testings. If the information is not uploaded on SHS, fully-vaccinated students will be required to undergo testing.

Provost Debra Liebowitz hopes more students get vaccinated to help bring more normalcy back to campus.

We continue to strongly encourage all students to get vaccinated. It’s critical to protecting the health of our entire community, and it’s the quickest way we can start to lift many of our COVID-19 restrictions. Getting vaccinated will exempt you from many of our testing, isolation and quarantine protocols,” Liebowitz said.

Senior Medical Advisor Dr. David Hill is also hopeful that everyone will “step up willingly” to receive the vaccination before the fall semester begins.

The university urges students to upload their vaccination records as soon as possible, so the university can waive testing requirements. To upload a copy of the vaccination record, students can log in to their SHS accounts, and click on “Immunization Record” on the menu.

For unvaccinated students, they must take a COVID-19 test on their own and upload the negative test result by 4 p.m. on Friday, May 14.

Students who fail to meet the May 14 deadline will join classes remotely until a negative test result is submitted and approved by the university.

While every student has been tested once a week throughout the spring semester, unvaccinated students or those who have not uploaded their vaccination records on SHS will be selected at random for weekly tests. The tests will be held on all 3 campuses from May 17 to Aug 5 and students will be emailed the days they are assigned to get tested.

The university provided first dose Pfizer vaccinations on campus from April 29  to April 30. Second Pfizer vaccinations will be provided on campus on May 21 and May 24 for all students.

Students can find more details on how to schedule a vaccination appointment on Quinnipiac’s vaccination information page.
