Quinnipiac student struck by car

Quinnipiac University senior, Peter Lawnes from Huntington Station, New York, was hit by a car while he was crossing Sherman Avenue near the entrance to the York Hill Campus.

Hamden Police arrived at the scene shortly after a call was made around 4:30 a.m. Sunday about a person who was struck by a car near the entrance to York Hill. A 39-year-old New Haven resident was driving down Sherman Avenue near the university when the car hit him.

The driver was also injured in the incident and both are now being treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

According to the Hamden Police Department, the accident is currently under investigation. It has yet to be reported if charges will be filed.
