The Student Government Association has granted special appeals to student organizations after finalizing their constitution. Every recognized student organization can file a special appeal if they need additional financial support aside from their original budget.

Vice President for Finance, John Khillah, brought up special appeals again to the general board on Wednesday. Khillah explained that with the current budget, he was able to grant some student organizations the amount they had asked for.

Organizations that will receive their special appeals include: American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS), Big Event, Rock Climbing Club, League of Legends, QTHON, and Q30 Television.

Among them, every organization receives all they have asked for, except for Q30 Television. Khillah believes it “simply asked for more than [they] could grant.” The SGA Finance Committee has decided to grant about 10% of what Q30 Television originally asked for.

This week, the focused initiative for SGA is on “Pub Night.”

The first “Pub Night” was a success for SGA as students over 21 years old packed the Rocky Top Den Thursday night. The event was to promote their initiative to get a pub on the York Hill campus.

“Pub Night” included a cash bar, music, and games. The senior cabinet also held a meet and greet tabling event that morning, with free Dunkin’ to encourage students to come.
