With the Florida Panthers securing their second straight Stanley Cup and the 2025 NHL Entry Draft coming to a close last weekend, the National Hockey League offseason has officially begun.
Major names are signing from the open market, and teams are also looking at young players in player development camps, which started on Monday, June 30. Eight current Quinnipiac Bobcats are attending these development camps across the NHL.
Chris Pelosi, Elliot Groenewold and Dylan Silverstein; Boston Bruins: Three of last year’s first year class headed to Boston. Pelosi for his third time, Groenewold for his second, while Silverstein went to his first development camp. The three were joined by 2025 first round pick James Hagens, who the Bobcats will play on opening night on Oct. 3. Three other ECAC rivals joined the trio in Boston: Dalton Bancroft and Ryan Walsh of Cornell and CJ Foley of Dartmouth.
Jermey Wilmer and Mason Marcellus; Florida Panthers: Quinnipiac’s top two point getters from the 2024-25 season went to the Panthers development camp in Sunrise, Florida. This was both their second development camp, as Marcellus went to the Nashville Predators camp last year, while Wilmer went to Pittsburgh Penguins camp. The pair was joined by former Bobcat Christophe Tellier, who finished last year with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
Charlie Leddy; New Jersey Devils: Leddy, a 2022 fourth round pick of New Jersey, returned for his fourth time. Leddy had 11 points in 37 games in his first season in Hamden after two years at Boston College. Leddy is one of the four returning defensemen for the 2025-26 season.
Drew Hockley; Nashville Predators: A mid-season addition to the 2024-25 squad, Hockley had four points in 23 games for the Bobcats. The 20-year-old headed to his first NHL development camp in Nashville. He will be joined in Nashville by ECAC rivals Ryan Sullivan of Colgate and Tristan Sarsland of Clarkson, as well as former Brown goaltender Lawton Zacher.
Nate Tivey; Colorado Avalanche: Tivey put up 40 points in 63 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Saint John’s Sea Dogs. Tivey played three seasons in the QMJHL, all for Saint John’s, and will head to Hamden alongside six other first-years with CHL experience. Former Cornell defender Hank Kempf joined Tivey in Colorado.
Matthew Lansing; Vancouver Canucks: Lansing was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in Saturday’s Entry Draft in the seventh round. Lansing had 27 points in 54 games for the Waterloo Black Hawks and the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League (USHL). Lansing will be joined by former ECAC rival Aku Koskenvuo of Harvard. Lansing will be one of nine incoming first-years for the Bobcats in 2025.
The other Quinnipiac draft pick in the 2025 Entry Draft, Ethan Wyttenbach, who will enroll at Quinnipiac in 2026, attended the Calgary Flames development camp.
The Bobcats will return to the ice to face the Boston College Eagles on Oct. 3.
