It’s been a good week for the Quinnipiac men’s basketball program. Today, former guard Evan Conti took the first step to becoming a professional basketball player signing with agent Neal Rosenshein of Summit Sports Group.

Conti is the second former Bobcat in the last two days to sign with an agency after Zaid Hearst announced his representation yesterday.

Conti hopes to play professionally in Israel. He has played there a couple of times over the last few years, participating in the Maccabi Games in 2009 on the United States Junior team and in 2013 on the United States Open team under coach Brad Greenberg.

“It means everything because ever since I played in the Junior Maccabi Games in 2009, my dream was to eventually come back and play in Israel professionally, so this is just a big milestone to that becoming a reality,” said Conti.

Conti was a major piece of Quinnipiac men’s basketball over his four years. After averaging less than ten minutes per game during his freshman year, an injury to Garvey Young propelled Conti into a starting roll in his second year. He would start 22 games that season averaging 8.5 points per game. Conti, known for his three point shooting, also had his best season from beyond the arc shooting 38%. After a down year as a junior, Conti had a strong final campaign in Hamden, averaging 9.0 points per game and just under five rebounds.
