Corey Burke, Quinnipiac student and ADPi member, passes away

Corey Burke, a Quinnipiac University Health Sciences student and member of Alpha Delta Pi passed away on Saturday, in her hometown of Kearny, New Jersey after a “courageous battle with cancer,” according to a statement issued by the university.

Her sorority sisters described her as a “beautiful person” and say she will be missed very much.

Corey, who was a member of the Class of 2017 was diagnosed with metastatic cancer, which forced her to put a hold on her studies, extracurricular involvement, and life in order for her to focus on her health, according to a GoFundMe page created for her.

The page, which launched in March 2016, fundraised over $34,000 for Corey.

Quinnipiac sent the following email to students on Sunday:

The university will share information regarding services for Corey once they’re finalized.

Confidential counseling services are available to students in the Health and Wellness Center on Bobcat Way. Students can call 203-582-8680 to schedule an appointment.
