During his freshman year at Quinnipiac, Cameron Burbank found it frustrating to get a haircut without having a car to get to a barber shop. Needing a haircut every two and half weeks, Burbank then decided to bring his haircut closer to campus. He created his own mobile barber shop that is located in a 35 foot trailer. The trailer includes a waiting room, a bathroom and four barber chairs.
The Ithaca Native entered his idea in many business competitions and became the only undergraduate finalist in the IBMC competition in California. After conducting surveys, Burbank found that men were most interested in his business rather than women. He decided to focus on men’s haircuts to start. Burbank has hired many trained barbers in the Hamden area and has received permission from Quinnipiac University to bring his barber shop to the Mount Carmel campus. He hopes to service Southern Connecticut State University and Sacred Heart University.
