Walt Disney World has had several skip-the-line pass options over the years, but one of the newest offerings is the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and the Lightning Lane Single Pass.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass vs. Lightning Lane Single Pass:
Lightning Lane Multi Pass (LLMP): Allows guests to skip lines for a variety of rides at all parks throughout the day for a set price.
Lightning Lane Single Pass (LLSP): Allows guests to skip the lines of certain rides that are more in demand and popular for an additional cost per day.
**It is important to note that once you select an attraction and use your pass on it, you will not be able to select that same ride again**
**It is important to note that only guests with a valid park-hopper ticket can make selections in more than one park**
Previous Offerings:
FastPass+: Allows guests to skip lines for a variety of rides at all parks throughout the day for no cost.
Genie+: Allows guests to skip lines for a variety of rides at all parks throughout the day for a set price.
Individual Lightning Lanes: Allows guests to skip the lines of certain rides that are more in demand and popular for an additional cost per day.
You may ask yourself, ‘How is this pass different from any of the others previously offered?’ Well, there are several answers:
- Cost: LLMP and LLSP are paid offerings. FastPass+, which was used in the parks before COVID-19, was a free offering for guests with a valid park ticket. The current cost for LLMP and LLSP varies depending on what park you are visiting that day, the time of the year, or the demand of the offering which is determined by the number of people attending the parks that day.
- Selection of Rides: Genie+ only allowed guests to select one ride on the day they were attending the specific park starting at 7 a.m. EST but could hold as many as they wanted as long as they passed a two-hour grace period between bookings. LLMP allows guests to select up to three rides instead of one.
- Time Selection: Previously, Genie+ would automatically give guests the earliest times available for a selected ride. Guests now have the option to select a time with LLMP that best fits their schedule.
- Advanced Selection: As stated in ‘Selection of Rides,’ guests could only select their rides on the day of with Genie+. With LLMP and LLSP, guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort Hotels can book up to seven days in advance starting at 7 a.m. EST and guests who are not staying on the property, but have a valid park admission ticket, can select their rides up to three days in advance starting at 7 a.m. EST.
- Uses: With FastPass+, guests had to use all three selections before they could book another one. With LLMP, guests can book another ride immediately after using one, so you can always have three available at a time.
If you were used to the previous passes offered, here are some similarities between them:
- Selection: Similar to FastPass+, guests can select up to three rides at a time and they can select the times they want, too. Although guests had a bigger time frame to select with FastPass+, they still can book in advance and plan out their days.
- In-Park Booking Process: Right after scanning into a ride, guests can book another one and select the time they want. They can also filter and sort rides based on importance to help them find availability more quickly.
- Modification: Modification is easy in the My Disney Experience app and very similar to FastPass+ and the late Genie+ where you can modify in hopes of selecting a better time for the same ride or a time for a different ride. Guests can also add or drop people in their party using the modification feature.
- Tiers: FastPass+ allowed guests to pick a certain number of rides per time based on tiers, which were determined by their demand, and LLMP is the same way. With LLMP, guests can select up to one attraction from the Tier 1 list and the other two, or all three, from the Tier 2 list. Once you use one, guests can choose their next attraction from either tier.

Is LLMP and LLSP Worth It In Each Walt Disney World Park?
My answer to this question is both yes and no. This is because it’s worth it in some of the parks, but not others.
Magic Kingdom Park:
Because of the amount of attractions offered in Magic Kingdom Park, I would say LLMP is fully worth it, but only one of the LLSP attractions is worth it. Now that TRON Lightcycle / Run is offered as a standby line, the LLSP is not worth buying for $20 per person. However, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is worth the purchase.
Here are my suggestions for the first selections you should make at Magic Kingdom Park:
- Tier 1: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
- Tier 2: Haunted Mansion and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin (as early as possible). This would be your ‘burner’ ride to get onto fast, so you can start booking another ride immediately. This is where I would pick another Tier 1 attraction like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Jungle Cruise.
EPCOT:
I would not suggest purchasing LLMP for this park, but would 100% suggest purchasing LLSP and getting in the virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind because those are the only two ways to ride that attraction.
LLMP is not worth it in this park because the Tier 2 attractions all tend to have short wait times in their standby lines and the Tier 1 attractions book up very quickly because of their popularity.
Here is a first course of action without using LLMP in EPCOT:
- If you are entering through the main entrance, I would suggest rope-dropping Frozen Ever After in Norway. If you are entering through the International Gateway (the back entrance), I would suggest rope-dropping Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. These will be your closest options from where you’re entering which will have long lines throughout the day.
**Rope-dropping is a term that means arriving at the park before opening and going to that ride first to get in line with the shortest wait.**
Disney’s Hollywood Studios:
Although Disney’s Hollywood Studios does not have a massive amount of attractions, I would say it is still worth purchasing LLMP and LLSP for this park. Some major attractions in Tier 2 have long lines throughout the day, so I find it very worth it to buy it.
Here are my suggestions for LLMP in Disney’s Hollywood Studios:
- Tier 1: Slinky Dog Dash
- Tier 2: I would not choose a burner ride for this park and choose two rides that have long lines throughout the day – Toy Story Mania and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™.
- After using one of these selections, I would pick Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway for my next attraction.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park:
I would not purchase LLMP for this park, but I would purchase LLSP. With the amount of attractions in this park, it would not be worth spending the money to skip the lines of rides that typically have short wait times.
Here’s what I would do in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park:
- Purchase LLSP for Avatar Flight of Passage as early as possible and rope-drop Na’vi River Journey. After that, I would go straight to Kilimanjaro Safaris since there will be a long line throughout the day.
