Ian Jackson and Brittany Kusmierski were named the winners of the 2013 Mr. and Miss. Quinnipiac pageant Friday night. The event was sponsored by the Student Government Association and drew dozens of Quinnipiac students to support.
“I love Quinnipiac so much,” Jackson, a senior, said. “I’m glad I could represent it tonight.”
Deandre Hinson, last year’s Mr. QU, agreed with the final verdict.
“I think the judges chose Ian because, you talk about spirit, he shows so much energy,” he said. “He really shows his love for QU and everybody in it.”
Jackson and Kusmierski outlasted five other participants in an effort to be named the champions of the evening. Kusmierski is just the second ever Miss Quinnipiac in the competition’s history.
“I think they’re awesome,” Quinnipiac student Kelsey Goode said. “I know Brittany from being an orientation leader with her and she did really well.”
The evening saw the contestants answer questions from judges, strut their stuff on the catwalk and even showcase their talents before the crowd.
The two will now host next year’s competition as part of winning this time around.
