On Tuesday, November 16 at 8:30 PM, the highly anticipated second trailer for “Spiderman: No Way Home” was released following a fan event in Los Angeles. The trailer confirms new villains and reveals new glimpses of critical scenes and story points. With the trailer, Sony Pictures announced that tickets for the film will go on sale on November 24.

The trailer comes during a virtually nonexistent advertising campaign for the film, which premieres in less than a month. While the first trailer came out on August 23rd, virtually no other materials were released until November 7, when Sony Pictures released the first poster for the film. The lack of advertising has been credited by fans and pundits to both secrecy involving plot points and characters in the film and the possibility of the film being delayed (but with the release of this second trailer, almost all possibility of the film being delayed has been diminished). However, despite a lack of advertising, anticipation for this trailer and film have been extraordinarily high, with social media ablaze with fans demanding new information and social media material for the film.

Two people noticeably missing from the trailer are Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, the two previous Spiderman actors heavily rumored to be included in the movie. While not confirmed, several leaks have suggested that the two Spidermen actors will join Tom Holland in the film, helping defeat the villains from their respective movies. Prior to its release, debates filled social media about whether or not the two would appear in the trailer. However, following the trailer’s release, most agree that it was wise not to reveal the two actors, arguing that that moment will be best experienced in movie theaters.

While the actors are not in the trailer, many fans are speculating that Maguire and Garfield were edited out of many shots using VFX for use in the trailer, a tactic Marvel has used in the past to hide secrets. Evidence includes a shot of the villain Lizard being punched hard in the face by a seemingly invisible entity and a shot of Tom Holland and Zendaya with a mysterious arm in the corner. Essentially, fans are insinuating that Maguire and Garfield are actually in these scenes in the movie, just digitally erased in the trailer.

Regardless of the Maguire and Garfield discussion, the trailer reveals other new, exciting information. The Lizard from “The Amazing Spiderman” has been confirmed as the fifth villain of the movie, leading to theories and speculation on who the sixth member of the famous “Sinister Six” could be. New extended footage of Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, and Doc Ock was included. A large fight on scaffolding, including a treacherous moment for Zendaya’s MJ, was teased, and a scared Doctor Strange was shown with an uncontrollable multiversal tear.

All secrets in “Spiderman: No Way Home” will be revealed when fans finally see it in theaters on December 17th. The film is expected to generate huge amounts of box office revenue and provide an unforgettable experience.
