Each month, the New Haven Pug Meetup group offers a place for pug lovers to meet new people, get pet advice, and help their pets socialize.
Over a dozen pugs fill the Union Street Dog Park with their signature snorts, grumbles and growls. For two hours, the flat-faced dogs play, explore the park and befriend the other pet owners.
New Haven Pug Meetup Organizer Jennifer Oliva believes the event has built a bond between the pugs just as much as it has between their owners.
“I think that pugs have a sense of… community amongst themselves. They’re very friendly. They enjoy playing together. It’s good for dogs that need to be socialized,” Oliva said.
The group’s next meeting is Sunday, April 29th at 11 p.m. in the Union Street Dog Park. Interested pet lovers can sign up here.
