The show starts off with students attending East High in Salt Lake City, Utah — the school where the Disney movie series “High School Musical” took place. A new theater teacher gets hired by the school and she has one goal: to have the theater department put on “High School Musical.” As the show unfolds, there are relationships between cast members, secrets between faculty and staff members, and a LOT of singing.

The original series was added to Disney+ after the streaming service was launched on Nov. 12, 2019.
