HAMDEN, Conn. –– The State of Connecticut has implemented early voting beginning Oct. 2, enabling residents to cast their ballots weeks ahead of the general election.
Passed into law last year, this initiative allows voters to make decisions for various officers within their districts prior to the Nov. 5 election.
Differing from absentee ballots, the option to vote early gives residents the ability to cast ballots early in-person as opposed to voting through mail-in ballots. This new option encourages residents to participate in democratic processes in a way that better fits their personal schedule.
Each town within the state has at least one designated early voting site where locals can vote on their decision for president, as well as state representatives and senators.
From Oct. 21 until Nov. 3, Connecticut residents can visit their respective early voting locations from the hours of 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. to participate in early voting, with extended hours from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. offered the Tuesday and Thursday before election day.
Hamden residents can take advantage of early voting at the Miller Memorial during the designated hours of operation until 6 p.m. on Nov. 3.
