Scenes from Wednesday night on Quinnipiac Ave. in North Haven
Police have said that human remains were found this morning at 385 Quinnipiac Avenue, where a police standoff and explosion happened last night resulting in injuries to nine law enforcement officers.
According to NBC Connecticut, it is not clear which structure on the property the body was found. The office of the chief medical examiner will be examining the body to determine who the person is and how and when they died.
Last night in a press conference North Haven First Selectman, Micheal Freda, said regarding the situation, “today it had been going on for hours and then apparently it had been going on three days prior.”
Reportedly, for three days prior to the stand-off and explosion that occured last night, a man held his wife hostage in the garage of the home on Quinnipiac Ave.
Connecticut State Public Information Officer, Kelly Grant, addressed the media last night.

Grant said, “this afternoon around 2 p.m. or so a female victim did enter the North Haven police department with a complaint of a domestic disturbance here on Quinnipiac Ave.”
According to CNN, North Haven Police Deputy Chief Jonathan Mulhern, confirmed today that it was the wife that made the domestic violence complaint and she was not in the structure at the time of the incident.
After her report, the North Haven police department initiated an investigation in which they decided a tactical response with the assistance of the SWAT team was necessary.
During the investigation, “there was an explosion of the barn,” Grant said.
This explosion injured nine law enforcement officers, all who were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital who tweeted this morning that all officers were listed in fair condition.
Update: YNHH received a total of 9 patients from last night’s event in North Haven. The 9 patients are all listed in fair condition this morning.

The barn was detached from the house on the property. Grant also confirmed that police as of 12:39 a.m., Thursday, did not have the suspect in custody and were unsure if he was inside the barn.
“The last they knew was that he was a baracaded subject,” Grant said.
Right now authorities have not released the names of the suspect or wife.
However, court records that have been found indicate a dissolution of marriage, divorce, was filed between residents of the home at 385 Quinnipiac Ave. A woman is listed as “plantiff” and man “defendant.” The divorce was filed on the 18th of April and the last action date listed on the case was April 19th.
With this situation unfolding only four-point-two miles away from the Quinnipiac North Haven Campus a Quinnipiac alert was sent out to students last night at 8:51 p.m.
“Good evening! Area residents are being asked to avoid the area of Quinnipiac Avenue in North Haven, near Orient Lane, because of heavy police activity. We will update the university community as more information becomes available. Thank you,” the alert said.
Freda last night wanted to express to Quinnipiac students that incidents like this hardly ever happen in the town of North Haven.
“My message to the residence of Quinnipiac students is that this is not the norm here,” Freda explained. “But we have to all understand in today’s society these incidents are going to happen–somewhere, anywhere–but we should never say because an incident’s happen that, that’s going to be the new norm.”
