Q30 Newscast: Campus Climate Survey, Course Evaluations and Sandy Hook Tenth Anniversary

Katie Coen and Olivia Kettell host this edition of the Q30 Newscast and have all the updates. The anchors begin by discussing the results of the recently released campus climate survey and how the campus community views diversity and inclusion at Quinnipiac. Julia Barcello spoke with professors about the importance of course evaluations and what they are used for. Olivia has information on tours available inside the newly opened Recreation and Wellness Center and Katie shares Quinnipiac’s recent recognition as an engaged campus for voting. Joe Monte has the story on a new Community Emergency Response Team organization coming to the university. The anchors also recap some of this week’s events including the Launchpad Competition and Women in Arts Festival.
Vanessa Blasi has the story on the approaching tenth anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting. Mason Glod is in the studio for this week’s political news updates including results from Georgia’s runoff election, a marriage equality case in Colorado and plans for early voting dates. Tim Malone has this week’s forecast and temperatures around the state of Connecticut. Katie has the story of the Quinnipiac professor who received a grant from the Irish government to write a historical novel and Olivia shares information on the Native American Heritage Month exhibit in the library. Andrew Reynolds has recent national news updates including developments in the Colorado club shooting, the North Carolina power outage and FedEx driver accused of murder in Texas.
Nicholas Antoniadis is also in the studio to recap this week in Quinnipiac athletics, including volleyball’s trip to Wisconsin, women’s ice hockey’s weekend wins and women’s soccer’s recent honors. The anchors share how the university is spreading holiday cheer, through a student business pop-up shop and gingerbread house decorating competition. To close the show, Tim Malone visited a bakery in East Haven to learn more about how they prepare for the holiday season.
