The Quinnipiac Bookstore is partnering with two companies to host convenient pop up shops on campus just in time for move-in.

On Thursday, Aug. 22 and Friday, Aug. 23, Bed Bath and Beyond of Hamden will have merchandise for sale in front of the Carl Hansen Student Center. The shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.

“We partnered with Bed Bath & Beyond to bring value to students in response to a survey that we sent out last spring just to offer students something else outside of the bookstore, where they could shop easier and not have to take the shuttle to go to Target.” Cheryl Cartier, manager of Quinnipiac’s bookstore, said.

Merchandise for sale will include closet organizers, storage containers, Command hooks and other dorm supplies.

Bed Bath & Beyond has partnered with the Office of Residential Life to create mock dorm rooms used on campus tours and open houses, but this will be the first event for the company to connect with students for their dorm move-in needs.

“A lot of the response from students was that they were looking for tent sales, sidewalk sales and for the bookstore to offer more than what’s typically in the store,” Cartier said. “So we reached out to local places and we’re excited because we’re actually sponsoring L.L. Bean in October.”

Later in the semester, L.L. Bean will bring its famous Duck Boot Truck to main campus. This event will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. The event will feature games, prizes, giveaways and L.L. Bean products available for purchase.

In the future, Cartier hopes to host a Lululemon trunk show in the second floor area of the bookstore.
