In the wake of recent school shootings across America, Quinnipiac University has set up training sessions to teach students, faculty, and staff what to do in the case of an active shooter.
An email was sent from Quinnipiac Executive Vice President Mark Thompson to all members of the Quinnipiac community, referencing the latest Oregon and Texas shootings.
The email says in part, “These events naturally cause varying levels of concern about safety and preparedness at our own University. While these events are generally unpredictable, it is important that we do everything possible to prevent them and be as prepared as possible to respond effectively should such an event occur.”
Training sessions are scheduled for various times beginning Tuesday Oct. 27th and ending Thursday Nov. 5th, with meetings on all three Quinnipiac campuses.
In addition to the training sessions, Thompson included a training video that explains proper procedure in the case of an active-shooter being on campus.
This email, along with an attached document stating Quinnipiac University’s specific procedure in these circumstances, reminds students that the Quinnipiac Public Safety Department and Emergency Management Team are well trained for these situations.
