This past Monday, Hamden Police responded to a report of threatening at the Quinnipiac University Mount Carmel campus.
Josiah Diaz-Cregan, 18, of Meriden, was arrested and charged with Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, Threatening in the 2nd Degree and Disorderly Conduct.

According to a news release obtained by Q30 News from Hamden Police, their investigation revealed that an unnamed 18-year-old student had a verbal dispute with his roommate, Diaz-Cregan.
“The dispute escalated when Diaz-Cregan chased his roommate with a knife, while threatening to kill him,” the release states.
With the assistance of Public Safety, Hamden Police was able to arrest Diaz-Cregan and bring him to police headquarters. According to the Daily Activity Log, Hamden Police made the arrest at 1:50 P.M. and the officer conducting the investigation was Officer John Glass.
Q30 News reached out to John Morgan, Associate Vice President for Public Relations, for a statement regarding Diaz-Cregan’s status as a student. He sent us the following statement: “The student was immediately suspended from the university pending the outcome of his student conduct meeting,” said Vice President for Public Affairs Lynn Bushnell.
The outcome of Diaz-Cregan’s conduct meeting could either lead to his reinstatement as a student or his expulsion.
Diaz-Cregan was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on September 17th.
