Positive vibes swept across Quinnipiac University as students, parents, and fans all gathered together to watch the Frozen Four Championship game at the TD Bank Sports Center Saturday night.
Students were confident that the Quinnipiac University Men’s Ice Hockey team would reign victorious.
“Hell yea we’re going to win,” sophomore Janine Jay said.
Everyone’s eyes were glued to the screen as they intensely watched the players skate up and down the ice.
Arielle Shankman, a future Bobcat, may not be a student at the university, but her love for the team makes her all that more invested in the game.
“Tonight’s game is very exciting it’s a good matchup up,” Shankman said. “So far it has been a really competitive intense game and I can’t wait to see how it turns out. Either way go bobcats baby.”
The night though was bittersweet for the Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey team, as they lost the Frozen Four championship to the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks, 5-1.
Although the Bobcats did not skate to victory, “Bobcat Nation” remained optimistic all night.
Freshman Laura Cunningham said the energy in the area exploded when Quinnipiac scored its first goal against North Dakota.
“When North Dakota scored that first goal I was so disappointed and the second one it killed my hopes. Then we scored that goal and my faith in this school was restored,” Cunningham said. “I have so much sprit. It woke me up there was an adrenaline rush. We are back in the game and ready to win.”
During the third period North Dakota scored three goals cementing its victory. This did not phase the Bobcats, as they remained hopeful to the bitter end.
“Even though they lost I am always proud to be a bobcat,” Zoey Moniz said. I will always be proud to be a part of bobcat nation.”
