This past season Quinnipiac men’s soccer made headlines for its struggles on the field. But, it finally got some positive news off the pitch as forward Rashawn Dally has been named to the Jamaican U-20 National Team.
The team will be competing in the Caribbean Football Union U-20 qualifiers next week. Jamaica is in Group Four and will be playing St. Kitts and Nevis, the Dominican Republic, and Dominica.
“This is big news for Rashawn and our program, and we couldn’t be more proud of him,” Quinnipiac head coach Eric Da Costa said in a press release. “The opportunity to represent your country in international competition is a tremendous honor, and it is one which Rashawn has truly earned through all of his hard work.”
Dally will certainly look to bring back his international experience to a Quinnipiac team that struggled last year. The Bobcats finished second-to-last in the MAAC and were knocked out in the second round of the MAAC Tournament.
The Bobcats were set back from the beginning as they lost midfielder and key playmaker James Doig early in the season. After the injury, Dally was called upon early and often for the Bobcats as he slid right in as the centerpiece to Quinnipiac’s attack.
In his freshman season, Dally appeared in all 19 games for the Bobcats scoring one goal and adding two assists. He also led the bobcats in both overall shots (31) and shots on goal (13).
