Former Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey head coach Ricky Seeley dropped his lawsuit against the University for breach of contract, breach of covenant of good faith and fair dealing and negligence this past Monday, Sept. 26.

Seeley, who resigned back in April 2015 amidst allegations of physical and verbal abuse, coached the team from 2007-2015. He left after the program’s most successful season (26-9-3) at the time.

Despite dropping the case against the school, Seeley is still suing David Bills for defamation of character. In the suit, Seeley states that Bills presented false handwritten notes detailing alleged abuses to Q30 Sports. Bills’ daughter Courtney played for Seeley at Clarkson University during the 2003-04 season. Similar allegations were made at Clarkson, but after an investigation the school found no evidence of abuse.

At the time of his resignation, Seeley ranked 15th all-time in wins in NCAA women’s ice hockey history, sporting a 278-174-56 overall in his career.
