The No. 4 Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team tied No. 5 Clarkson 2-2 Saturday afternoon at High Point Soultions Arena.
Emma Woods kicked off the night with a goal just over a minute into the game. The two teams were fairly evenly matched the rest of the first and second periods with Clarkson leading in shots, but Quinnipiac lead in puck possession.
Clarkson’s Loren Gabel tied the game at one with 16:06 left in the game. Melissa Samoskevich came back to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead with a power play goal just six minutes later.
But it was the Golden Knights’ Cayley Mercer who had the stunner of the night. She scored with 56 seconds left to send it into overtime.
Quinnipiac has two games left in the regular season. Union and RPI will travel to Hamden on Feb. 19 and 20. The Bobcats can clinch home ice for ECAC playoffs with a win or two-point weekend.
