With the Quinnipiac men’s hockey first exhibition game approaching next weekend, Soren Jonzzon is eager to start his senior season. Jonzzon said being named captain back in April was an honor and his jobs as the leader have already begun.
“It was a huge honor,” Jonzzon said. “I mean, just looking at the captains before me, it was a huge honor to have my teammates and my coaches decide that they wanted me to be the guy that was captain, it was a huge honor just to get that recognition from them.”
Jonzzon said his number one goal for the team is to win a national championship.
“We just want to keep moving forward the way our team’s been going,” he said. “And keeping that NCAA appearance going.”
Off the ice, Jonzzon has attained his undergraduate degree in three years, all while sporting a 3.91 GPA, and is now focused on his master’s degree. He credits strong organization to help get him through it.
“It’s mostly just time management. Just knowing alright we have games on Fridays and Saturday, I’m probably not going to get that much work done,” he said. “Tuesday night, Wednesday night I’ve got to make sure I’m taking care of all my work and rather stay ahead of things instead of falling behind.”
Jonzzon said his professional goals are to either play professional hockey or become a trauma surgeon.
