The Quinnipiac men’s lacrosse team is going dancing for the first time in program history. Quinnipiac avenged its championship game loss from last season as it defeated Marist 13-9 on Saturday in front 850 fans at the QU Turf Field.
“It’s just such an accomplishment for the guys. This has been one of the best teams I’ve ever coached,” head coach Eric Fekete said. “We’ve had this as our goal since last year when we fell short. Everything we’ve asked them to do, they’ve done without any complaints.”
Dominance in the faceoff circle was the key to victory for the Bobcats as faceoff specialist Will Vitelli won twenty out of twenty-six faceoffs. Thanks to Vitelli’s prowess on faceoffs, the Bobcats were able to control the pace of play as they played with a lead the entire game.
“He’s an underdog you know he was someone who came out last year and never done it and worked hard. We call him a “self made man” he created himself,” Fekete said.
Bobcat forward Drew D’Antonio had himself a career day scoring four goals and tallying one assist.
Jack Brust held strong in net making 13 saves in the winning effort. The red shirt senior was named the tournament’s most outstanding player.
