After outshooting the Robert Morris 36-22 on Friday night, Quinnipiac had the all the momentum it needed as it defeated Robert Morris again Saturday night, 2-0.
At the end of the first period there was no score, but the Bobcats (19-1-4, 10-1-3 ECAC) highlighted their talented offense by putting 13 shots on goalie Jessica Dodds.
The second period was a period dedicated to special teams. The Colonials (12-8-4, 4-3-3 CHA) kept the Bobcats scoreless on two power play opportunities and the Bobcats kept the Colonials scoreless on three power play chances.
“It’s always great to get a series win and to grow with our special teams the way we did, to grow as we did throughout the entire weekend,” Quinnipiac head coach Cassandra Turner said.
The Bobcats were able to block five more shots in the second period leaving Sydney Rossman to fend off only a couple of pucks.
The third period was a different story.
The Bobcats came out firing after two unsuccessful periods as they were held scoreless and committed three penalties in the second period alone.
“We talked about continuing to go at them, continue to try and play offense, you know to find ways to continue to get the puck to the goalie and to be able to be more gritty,” Turner said.
The Bobcats were able to convert on two of their 27 shots on goal.
Nicole Connery picked up her eighth of the season on a power play.
With just fourteen seconds left to play, T.T. Cianfarano netted an empty-net insurance goal for her twentieth goal of the season.
The Bobcats are riding a program record 17-game unbeaten streak, having won 13 of their last 15.
The Bobcats hit the ice on Wednesday at 11 a.m. as they try to keep their unbeaten streak alive against the Boston University Terriers.
