The Quinnipiac Bobcats took on the Boston College Eagles on Thursday in their first home game of the season. After being shut out by both Northwestern and Northern Illinois to start the season, the team was not only looking for their first win, but also their first goal of the year. However, the Bobcats would find neither of them against the Eagles, losing by a score of 2-0.
The game was scoreless for most of the 1st half, until Derrick Boateng put the ball past Quinnipiac goaltender Borja Angoitia in the 41st minute. This was Boateng’s first goal of the year. The goal gave the Eagles the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The second half was much of the same, as the score remained 1-0 until very late in the half. Boston College added some insurance in the 83rd minute on a goal by Isaac Norminsu.
The Eagles held onto their lead, winning the game 2-0. Through three games this season, the Bobcats have not scored a single goal. Their next game will be on Sunday at 2:30 against Providence. With more on the story is Victoria Rutigliano from the QU Soccer Field.
