The No. 15 Quinnipiac men’s ice team fell to the UConn Huskies 4-1 at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn.
The Huskies dominated throughout the game both offensively and defensively.
In the first period, UConn sophomore Evan Richardson was able to score off a deflected shot putting the Huskies up 1-0.
Late in the second period, senior Trevor Gerling poked the puck past junior Bobcat goalie Michael Garteig to put the Huskies up 2-0.
Starting in the second period, Quinnipiac head coach Rand Pecknold took out Garteig and put in freshman back up Sean Lawrence in hopes of better goaltending.
Less than a minute into the second period, Quinnipiac leading goal scorer, Sam Anas scored his fourth goal of the season to cut the Huskies lead in half.
Freshman Patrick Kirkland scored minutes later to put the Huskies up 3-1, which lead the Bobcats to go back to Garteig at goalie.
In the third period, the Bobcats pulled Garteig from goal and with thirty-nine seconds left in the game, freshman Jesse Schwartz scored the empty net goal for the Huskies to give them the 4-1 lead that they would go on to win by.
The Bobcats will have the weekend off and will look to bounce back as they host Northeastern from Nov. 1-2 in a two game series at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.
