The Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey team completed their home-and-home series with the UMass Lowell Riverhawks with a 3-3 tie at High Point Solutions Arena.
The scoring was a back-and-forth throughout the game starting with a goal by UMass Lowell’s Evan Campbell in the first period. Later in the period, Quinnipiac tied the game on a power play goal from freshman Landon Smith’s. The score marked Smith’s first career goal. The Riverhawks took the lead back two and a half minutes later on a goal by Michael Kapla.
UMass Lowell held that lead through the second period and into the third until freshman Justin Agosta tied the game with a power play goal. With nine minutes left in the game, the Bobcats got their first lead as Landon Smith put another one past Kevin Boyle for his second goal of the game, giving Quinnipiac the 3-2 lead. But in the final two minutes of the game, the Riverhawks tied it up again on a goal by Joe Gambardella.
After a scoreless overtime period, the game ended in a 3-3 tie. Q30 Sports’ John Small has more on the game.
