The No.3 Quinnipiac Bobcats (20-4-5, 10-2-3 ECAC) defeated the No.14 Clarkson Golden Knights (16-11-2, 9-6-0 ECAC) on Friday at the High Point Solutions Arena by a score of 6-3.
Ten scoring started just ten seconds into the game when Connor Jones lit the lamp to put the Bobcats up 1-0. Matthew Peca got in on the scoring campaign just over a minute later when he took a sneaky feed from Travis St. Denis from behind the net and banked it in to put the Bobcats up 2-0
The Knights though came out firing in the second period, tying the game up within the first two minutes of the second period with goals coming from Jarrett Burton and Allan McPherson.
Not to be out done though the veteran captain, Cory Hibbeler, put his team back on top later in the second period to give the Bobcats the 3-2 lead. Five minutes later Matthew Peca scared his second goal of the game to give the Bobcats a 4-2 lead.
Clarkson would make it interesting again though as James De Haas fired a rocket over Michael Garteig’s glove to cut the lead to one in the third. Both Bryce Van Brabant and Kellen Jones would score later on though to make the final score of 6-3.
Michael Garteig made 15 saves on the night and overall there were 30 penalties called to go along with the 71 penalty minutes in the game.
Quinnipiac is back at it on Saturday February 8th at 7 p.m. as they bring in ECAC foe St. Lawrence.
