The No. 9 nationally-ranked Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team, (17-4-7, 8-3-5 ECAC) skated to a 2-2 overtime tie at home Saturday afternoon against the No. 5 nationally-ranked Harvard Crimson (17-2-3, 13-2-2 ECAC).
The Bobcats got on the scoreboard first at the 5:34 mark in the second period, when senior Kelly Babstock’s shot was rebounded by junior Shiann Darkangelo off of Harvard goalie Emerance Maschmeyer.
Six minutes later, Harvard’s Miye D’Oench connected on a one-time slap shot past Chelsea Laden with assists from Marissa Gedman Frami and Hillary Crowe.
Later in the period, freshman Emma Woods redirected a Darkangelo shot to propel the Bobcats into the third period with a 2-1 lead.
With less than three minutes remaining in regulation, the Bobcats were given a five-on-three opportunity for two minutes after consecutive penalties by Brianalin Mastel and Dylanne Crugnale.
Quinnipiac was unable to convert, sending the game into overtime where the game would end in a 2-2 tie.
Quinnipiac is back in action Friday Feb. 7 at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, N.Y., as they encounter the Clarkson Golden Knights at 7 p.m.
