Versatility has proven to be a huge part of Matthew Peca’s game. From playing on the first line, to the power play and the penalty kill, Peca logs a large amount of minutes each game and it has shown in his success over the years.
With all of this success, the Hobey Baker trophy for the best player in NCAA hockey would figure to be in his sights. But when asked about it, Peca was humble in saying he hasn’t even thought about the trophy and is only focused on his own team’s success this season.
This being his last year on the team, the captain plans to continue his success in the hopes of making it back to the NCAA Tournament again this season. Coming into this year, he already has made it into the 100 point club. With that milestone out of the way, Peca has set his sight’s on winning the ECAC Championship and, beyond that, a national championship.
After losing so many great players like Connor Jones, Kellan Jones, and Cory Hibbler, Peca says he is prepared to take on a leading role and thinks many other players will too.
