Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey freshman Sam Anas was named the 2014 Tim Taylor Award winner last week during the Frozen Four in Philadelphia, Penn. The award is given out each year to the best rookie in all of college ice hockey.
Coming from Potomac, M.D, Anas began the year on the Bobcats third line. However, after an injury early in the year to Peter Quenneville, Anas was moved up to the top line to play with senior’s Connor and Kellen Jones.
Anas enjoyed great success in his rookie year, leading the team and all NCAA Division I freshman in goals (22) and points (43). This award adds to a long list of awards that Anas has already received including ECAC Co-Rookie of the Year and the George C. Carens Rookie of the Year Award.
Q30 Sport’s Jordan Siegler sat down with Anas to discuss his freshman year, the award and his future at Quinnipiac.
