The Quinnipiac basketball programs swept a double header Thursday night at the TD Bank Sports Center. Both contests were the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference games of the week and aired on ESPN3.
In the first game, Tricia Fabbri and her women’s basketball team stormed back from a ten point, second half deficit to defeat the Marist Red Foxes 76-71. Despite a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds from Marist senior Tori Jarosz, Quinnipiac’s poise down the stretch propelled it to victory. Freshman forward Paula Strautmane contributed 17 points to lead the way for Quinnipiac.
In the night cap, the men’s team squeaked out a 56-55 victory against Saint Peter’s. Quinnipiac was led by Daniel Harris, Chaise Daniels and Gio McLean who each had 10 points. Quadir Welton finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for Saint Peter’s. Quinnipiac will honor its seniors Sunday afternoon in the final home game against Manhattan at 2 p.m.
