The #11 Quinnipiac Bobcats (10-4-1) shut out the Colgate Raiders (2-5-3) in back-to-back ECAC Hockey battles this weekend, winning 3-0 both nights.

It was all Bobcats from the start on Sunday with Ty Smilanic finding the back of the net just under three minutes into the game and they didn’t look back.

Two straight conference wins over Colgate this week move the Bobcats to 4-2-1 in-conference with 11 games to go.

Here are tonight’s three stars of the game.

3. Keith Petruzzelli

After shutting out Colgate in a 3-0 win on Friday, the senior goaltender matched that result for his second straight shutout.

Petruzzelli made a couple of big, timely saves shut the door during the occasional Colgate offensive surge to keep the Bobcats ahead and prevent Colgate from making it a game.

Petruzzelli saw a total of 15 shots and saved them all. Quinnipiac will rely on the senior netminder heavily as the march to the playoffs continues. If he continues with games like this, the Bobcats are in good shape.

2. Odeen Tufto

The senior captain is must-see TV whenever he steps on the ice. It was no different Sunday afternoon against Colgate.

Adding another two assists, Tufto continues his point streak which has now reached 12 games. With two apples, this marks his ninth multi-point game this season.

Tufto leads the nation in assists (23) and points (27) through Jan. 17. His dominating season only features one game in which he did not record a point and that was a 4-1 loss to Bowling Green back in December.

Another impressive outing for the captain leads the Bobcats to another victory.

1. Ty Smilanic

The first-year forward continues to put on a show, getting better every game he plays. Smilanic leads Quinnipiac in goals and with two in Sunday’s win, he becomes the first Bobcat to reach double-digit goals this season (10).

Smilanic is an absolute force on the ice and has silenced all questions about whether or not he can adjust to the speed of the college game. The highly skilled forward has found chemistry with Tufto, becoming one of the most dangerous duos in the nation.

These two will continue to be the key to the Bobcats’ offense down the line, even more so if Wyatt Bongiovanni continues to miss more time from the lineup.

Up next for the Bobcats, another three-game weekend against the Clarkson Golden Knights starting on Friday, Jan. 22.
