Governor Lamont announces May 19 to go back to ‘new normal’

This afternoon, Governor Ned Lamont announced the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions for businesses in the state.

In the announcement, Lamont stated on May 1, the curfew for businesses will move from 11 p.m. to midnight. Furthermore, Lamont highlighted that outdoor restrictions will be lifted, now residents can have alcohol without food and not have a table size limit.

In addition, Lamont made it known that starting May 19, all business restrictions will be lifted, but people will have to continue to wear masks indoors. The Department of Public Health (DPH) will issue recommendations for how to operate large indoor and outdoor events.

In light of the news,  junior Film, Television and Media Arts major Billy Schillinger was ecstatic to hear this.

“This is definitely great news to hear,” Schillinger said. “With the news, it is a step in the right direction, as we get closer to seeing what the new normal will look like.”
