QTHON 2021 to be held outdoors
January 13, 2021
Despite the pandemic, QTHON received approval on November 23, 2020 to have the event in-person with COVID guidelines in place. QTHON will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021.
QTHON is Quinnipiac University’s biggest philanthropic event that is a ten-hour long dance marathon. Fundraising for Qthon is all year and they raise funds and awareness for Connecticut Children’s Hospital, the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
“The obstacles these children have overcome in their lives continue to be our inspiration to keep fighting despite the challenges COVID-19 presents,” QTHON’s Director of Operations, Caitlyn Napierkowski mentioned. “This year, we will be hosting QTHON outdoors for the first time ever. We will be ensuring that the experience is as memorable as ever, all the while following all of the university and state COVID-19 guidelines and regulations.”
Napierkowski and QTHON’s Executive Director, Hannah Baker, drew up a list of ideas to host the event outdoors and sent it to the club’s advisor, Leah Richards, before sending it to the Director of Campus Life for Student Centers and Student Involvement, Erin Provistalis, for approval.
“Despite the challenge of starting from scratch, we will not let COVID-19 stop our fight For The Kids.” Baker stated.
The Dance Marathon will be held outdoors with COVID guidelines in place. All participants will be required to wear face masks and maintain social distancing.
Baker was speechless when they received the approval to host the event.
“I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to begin brainstorming different ways to hold this successfully so early on. The time and effort our team has put into this challenging year is truly remarkable and as the Executive Director, there is only one word to describe how I feel, proud,” Baker mentioned.
As the club continues to decide and finalize the logistics of the event, the details will be announced later.
