Coming off a seventh-place finish in the MAAC, Quinnipiac finished a major rebuilding year that saw eight new players suit up for the team. The season was a roller coaster for the team. Jackie Grisdale, Maria Kealy and Ella O’Donnell all missed significant time with injuries and the team finished under .500 for the first time since 2010. The Bobcats look primed for a bounce-back season though. A talented sophomore class led by Anna Foley and Karson Martin, along with veteran leaders like Grisdale and Grace LaBarge, could get the Bobcats back to their winning ways in 2024-25.
Here’s who’s in and who’s out for Tricia Fabbri’s squad next season:
Joining:
Caranda Perea – Transferred in from Tulsa 4/22
Perea comes to Quinnipiac as a graduate transfer after spending last season with the Tulsa Golden Hurricane of the AAC. She’s a 6’2 stretch power forward who shoots the ball efficiently and plays good defense. She only averaged 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds last season, but shot the ball at a 41.9% rate (33% from three). The Bobcats struggled with size last season and adding Perea gives them a bigger body in the rotation to play on the interior.
Quinnipiac will be Perea’s fourth school. Prior to Tulsa, she spent her junior and sophomore seasons at Temple and her first-year season at George Washington.
Gracie Gopalan – Waupun, Wis.
Gopalan officially committed to the Bobcats back in November. The 5’4 guard was a four-year standout at Waupun and helped the Warriors win their division title in 2022. She’s a skilled ball handler with great finishing ability and should slot into the Bobcats guard rotation off the bench next season.
Reagan Sipla – St. Charles, Ill.
Sipla also officially committed in November. The St. Charles North standout stands at 6’1 and typically plays the three on the floor. She is a three-and-D weapon with a dangerous shooting ability. She dropped 20 points with six steals in her first game after signing and joined her high school’s 1000-point club in December.
Emma Lizzotte – Saco, Maine
Lizzotte is one of the top high school recruits in Maine. The 6’3 forward played her first three seasons at Cheverus High before transferring to Thornton Academy for her senior year. The three-time All-State selection is a beast on the interior and will give the Bobcats another skilled big in their rotation. She also became a 1000-point scorer this season and dominated with 32 points with 18 rebounds in that game.
Gal Raviv – Kadima, Ariz. (Israel)
Raviv officially committed to Quinnipiac in November. Raviv is a 5’9 combo guard from Israel. She played her senior season at Bella Vista Prep in Arizona. Raviv also has international experience with the Israeli U16 national team over the summer. She is a skilled scorer and won the Grind Session MVP award this season for her performance in her school’s prep circuit. Raviv had multiple 30-point games with Bella Vista Prep, including a 35, 10 and 10 triple-double on March 16.
Departing:
Reiven Douglas – Entered portal 3/20
Douglas spent three years in Hamden and entered the portal with one year of eligibility as a graduate transfer. Douglas was a 3+1 accelerated student and will get her bachelor’s degree this May. The senior guard averaged 1.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per game. Douglas was one of Quinnipiac’s most vocal leaders on and off the floor throughout her career. She became more integral to the rotation after injuries to Jackie Grisdale and Maria Kealy but chose to enter the portal in order to spend her graduate year closer to her home in North Carolina.
Kassidy Thompson – Committed to Hofstra 4/3
Thompson entered the portal on March 20 after struggling to get consistent minutes during her first and only year in Hamden. The first-year wing averaged only 2.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.0 minutes per game. Thompson did show some flashes, with 10 rebounds against The Mount on Feb. 15. She scored a career-high eight points against Siena on Feb. 10. She joins a rebuilding Hofstra Pride squad that finished twelfth in the CAA this year.
Emma Carman – Entered portal 3/20
Emma Carman did not play for the Bobcats during her first season. The first-year forward from Barnegat, N.J. entered the portal a few hours after Thompson and Douglas did.
Jillian Casey – Graduating
Casey spent four years with the Bobcats. She mainly played as a depth guard and scored a career-high 11 points during her first season. Casey is graduating with a degree in health science studies and will attend graduate school at URI. She will not play basketball.
Tiera White – Graduating
White spent four years at Quinnipiac. The senior forward has been one of the most notable presences on the Bobcats’ bench, infamous for her celebrations and dances. White will not be playing a graduate season.
