Offset Announced as Wake The Giant Headliner!
April 11, 2023
Offset has been announced as the artist for the Student Programming Board’s (SPB) annual Wake The Giant concert this year. The Grammy-nominated rapper has been dominating the music industry for decades, especially as a member of the hip-hop trio, Migos. In the 10 years since the start of the group’s achievements, they have taken the music world by storm with hits on the Billboard charts like “MotorSport” and “Stir Fry.” In 2017, Migos received two Grammy nominations for Best Rap Performance for “Bad and Boujee” and Best Rap Album for Culture.
However, Offset has made a name for himself as an artist aside from the success of Migos.
At the 62nd Grammy Awards in 2019, he was nominated for Best Rap Performance for the single “Clout” featuring his wife, Cardi B. On Spotify, the rapper’s number one streamed song is “Ric Flair Drip (with Metro Boomin)” which has accumulated 1,175,258,217 listens. As of his recent releases, the singer dropped a single, “2 Live” with Hit-Boy this year. Not only has Offset put out his original music that has remained mainstream from the early 2000s to now, but he has also made appearances on dozens of singles as a featured artist and created a collaborative album with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin as well.
The artist often shares on social media about his family life with his five children and leaks new music, too. In late March, Offset posted a video clip to his Instagram stories that included part of a new song featuring Icewear Vezzo which is rumored to come out sometime in the near future.
Fans can look forward to more original music soon from the artist and members of the Quinnipiac community can enjoy his biggest hits at the Wake The Giant on April 30th at the M&T Bank Arena at 8 P.M. Tickets for undergraduate students will go on sale at 3:30 p.m. on April 11. Graduate, doctoral, law and medical student tickets will be released on April 17 at 9:00 a.m. Staff, faculty and alumni can purchase tickets beginning on April 24 at 9:00 a.m. Check out SPB’s social media for more details to follow.
