On Monday, March 23, sophomore housing numbers were released. The lottery numbers were originally supposed to be released on Monday, March 16, but the process was delayed due to the spread of the coronavirus. Selection dates were also pushed back and will take place on April 7, 8 and 9.

“We decided to postpone the sophomore housing selection process because of the pandemic,” Director of Residential Life Mark Devilbiss said. “The timing of it was such that we did not feel like we could effectively carry off a sophomore housing selection process at the same time as we were reacting to the concerns from COVID-19.”

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, the list of available rooms will be displayed. The buildings available for to rising sophomores for the 2020-2021 academic year are Hill, Village, Larson, Perlroth, Troup and Crescent. There’s an instructional video on MyHousing to help students pick their rooms.

When asked whether Larson, Perlroth, and Troup’s ongoing constructions were affected by COVID-19, DeVilbiss said that he was not aware of any changes being made to the schedule. The director didn’t think there would be any delay for move-in day in August.

“They’ll be ready for next fall, planning to have sophomores live there next fall,” DeVilbiss said.
