Just two days after graduating from Quinnipiac University, former men’s basketball players Evan Conti and Justin Harris were selected to participate in the Gotham Hoops Invitational, a showcase for the best seniors in the Tri-State area. The showcase is scheduled for Saturday, May 30 at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York.
This is the second annual invitational for Gotham Hoops, an international basketball marketplace. The inaugural showcase featured current professionals in 14 different countries, including former Quinnipiac players Ike Azotam and Umar Shannon. The 2015 roster is headlined by former players in the Southeast, Atlantic-10, Metro, Colonial, and Northeast conferences, as well as other Division I, II, and III players.
The 44 players will participate in a slew of events, including warm-ups and press conferences to start the day. After a combine, skill development, and practice, which are open to agents, coaches, and media members, the players will take the court for two showcase games. The event will wrap up with an all-star game at 7 p.m. The showcase and all-star games are open to the public.
Conti and Harris head to the invitational after their best statistical season as Bobcats. Conti finished his senior season with career highs in many categories. He averaged 9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists in 27 minutes of action. Harris was among the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conferences best rebounders and shot-blockers, while finishing the year with career highs in points, rebounds, assists, minutes played, field goal and free-throw percentage. He was one of the most consistent players on the team that finished the season with a pedestrian 15-15 record.
