After being one of Quinnipiac women’s basketball’s most dominant stars over the past four years, former guard Jasmine Martin will be taking her game overseas. Q30 Sports learned Martin has signed with the BeoBasket agency in an effort to play professionally.
Martin told Q30 Sports she made the signing official last week, as several other former Quinnipiac players made the decision to pursue professional ball, potentially in other countries. She signed with Misko Raznatovic of the group after an old colleague put her in contact with him.
“Kyle Hines plays for [PBC CSKA Moscow] in Russia,” she said. “I’ve known Kyle since I was in the third grade, so it was nice having him look out for me. Kyle reached out to him and said Misko would love to work with me.”
The former Bobcat will become the first American female Raznatovic has ever represented. He currently oversees more than 200 male players across the world while based in Serbia. Among the countries Raznatovic has clients playing in are Serbia, Turkey, Spain, France, Germany and several others.
“We are both very excited for what’s ahead,” she said. “Now it’s a matter of waiting and seeing where my best fit will be. Until then, it’s time to get back to the gym.”
Martin goes down as one of the best players in Quinnipiac history, averaging 12.8 points per game en route to two NCAA Tournament appearances. Both appearances saw the Bobcats go undefeated in conference play in the Northeast Conference and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference respectively, with the Sicklerville, New Jersey-native earning MAAC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors in 2015. She finished her four-year career with 1689 points.
Her sister Brittany will be joining the Quinnipiac program in 2015-2016 as a point guard.
