The Quinnipiac Bobcats (3-2-1, 0-0-0 ECAC) defeated the Northeastern Huskies (0-6-0, 0-2-0 Hockey East) 4-3 in their second matchup against each other on the weekend.
In the first period, Mike Szmatula was able to score two goals for the Huskies to give them a 2-0 lead.
The Bobcats quickly responded in the second period with Landon Smith scoring in the first 23 seconds of the period. He would score again, minutes later to tie the game at two.
Seconds after Smith scored the tying goal, Ryan Rosenthal gave Northeastern a 3-2 lead.
Late in the same period, Andrew Taverner would tie the game at three with his second goal of the season.
In third period, Soren Jonzzon scored what would later be the game-winning goal to give the Bobcats a 4-3 lead.
Landon Smith led the team in scoring with three points (two goals and one assist).
The game was very physical with both teams combining for 28 penalties, including six that were given out after the final whistle because of a scuffle after the game.
