The Quinnipiac women’s rugby team hosted “Run the Hill for Austin” Saturday morning from 7:30-9:30 at York Hill in an effort to raise money and awareness for Austin Hill and his battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
Hill is a 16-year-old who has been battling Cystic Fibrosis since he was just 18-months old. A former rugby and lacrosse player, Hill was forced to give up sports due to his debilitating disease.
The Colorado native was in attendance with his father Johnny Saturday morning for the event held in his name. For the final hill, the rest of the participants joined the Johnny and Austin.
Each individual participant paid 10 dollars to run one time up York Hill, an extremely steep 0.7 mile run. Those who registered in groups received a discount. The rugby team came into the event hoping to achieve their goal of 80 hills and they did just that as 132 hills were completed.
A full-length feature on Austin and “Run the Hill for Austin” will be coming soon.
